Principle

FlowRate works on the Mac it runs on. The app collects no usage, analytics, or telemetry data, it knows no user account, and it uses no tracking or advertising identifiers. It holds no entitlement to open network connections of its own.

Data on your device

FlowRate keeps its own data in your user folder:

  • your settings
  • one session per folder you review, with the decisions and ratings of its files
  • favorites and recently opened folders, each with the folder path and a bookmark that keeps the app's access to exactly that folder
  • the renaming rules you create
  • a thumbnail cache that comes with the session and goes with it, and that you can switch off

This data stays on your Mac and is transferred nowhere. It disappears when you delete the session, the favorite, or the rule it belongs to, and at the latest with the app itself.

When a file cannot be read, FlowRate writes an error message with that file's path into your Mac's log. That log belongs to the operating system and never leaves your device.

Your files

FlowRate sees only the folders you pick in the open dialog yourself or hand over from the Finder. Inside them the app reads the files in order to show them, and their details, such as capture date, dimensions, or camera model, for the preview and for renaming. None of it leaves your Mac.

Your files are changed on your command alone: when sorting out, when renaming, and when eliminating duplicates. While the setting for storing ratings is on, the sort-out run also writes the rating into the file itself, as the extended attribute the Finder and Spotlight read too.

Purchase on the App Store

FlowRate is bought once. At launch the app asks Apple's StoreKit whether a purchase exists for your Apple Account; the button for another attempt asks the App Store actively. Apple performs that check. We receive no data about you from it, and FlowRate transmits no details of its own. Apple's privacy terms apply.

Connections to the outside

FlowRate opens no connection itself. The entries in the Help menu open your browser or your mail program; the connection is made there, and the terms of the respective provider apply. The address of the help page names the language set in FlowRate so the page appears in that language, and the subject of a support mail names the app's version and build.

Your rights

We collect and store no personal data about you; accordingly nothing is held here that we could disclose or delete. When you write to us, we process your message solely in order to answer it. You hold the rights of the General Data Protection Regulation, in particular to information, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
